Álvaro Urbano animates architectural and botanical histories by infusing them with his “what-if” narratives. The project Granada Granada, which refers to both the Spanish name for pomegranate, and the Andalusian city, imagines a romantic encounter between the Mexican architect Luis Barragán and the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. The characters and their fictional relationship are suggested here as two interweaving plants native to their respective countries. They are part of a larger body of work that acts as “the mute witnesses of the encounter”.
