George Stoll creates fragile models tumblers that imitate the plastic materiality of these everyday objects. Inspired by Tupperware, Stoll sees the brand and its merchandise as a window into quotidian American domestic life. While the hard plastic of their products is nearly indestructible, the artist’s recreations are made of beeswax and paraffin; the first, a product of bees, the second man-made. Stoll’s installations feature the different-colored tumblers on shelves, alluding to their common location in household cabinets and pantries.
