Jeronimo Rüedi, based in Mexico City, co-founded Aeromoto, an independent art library nestled within the studio he shared with fellow artists. His interest in text and graphics has led him to create artists’ books, the aesthetics of which have deeply influenced his paintings. Ruedi’s painting process involves a meticulous application of many layers of thin paint followed by their partial erasure. Drawings made with airbrush sit between these layers, subtly emerging and receding between visibility and obscurity. His drawings are indistinct in form suggestive of text, symbols, bodies and cartoons, teasing the viewers with an ambiguity that seems to communicate while withholding any straightforward meaning or interpretation.
